It’s always an exciting time after the banlist: the meta shakes up, exciting strategies emerge after unlimits and the top decks give way to new contenders. But such a jolly time isn’t for everyone, like our today’s player Walter G. Reid, better known online as “Suprex93”, who has some choice words for this current format.
“Every time Komoney makes a banlist, the worse the game gets,” started Suprex93, in his 1200 word Reddit post. “They hit some problem cards but leave obvious things out, just to sell more damn boosters. They could have hit actually broken cards, like the Fiendsmith engine,” the post continues.
The post, currently at 16 comments and 0 upvotes, goes quite into detail on how the current format, which by many is beloved for its deck diversity and balanced power level, personally affects the author. “Why is EVERYTHING an engine these days? Fiendsmith? Snake-Eye? Adventurer? They have to BAN every one of those cards, since every decks looks the damn same.” Some commenters noted the OP’s strange perception of the meta, made more prominent by other bizarre points. “And if you DON’T want to run an engine, congrats, you get FTK. EVERYTHING is an FTK – you have Tachyon FTK, Gimmick Puppet FTK and Morphtronic Telefon FTK. It’s like I can’t even play a card in the game without losing!”
When commenters asked Suprex93 the last time they played the game, the author was initially vague on the answer: “I dunno, it all blurs together. I just don’t want to sit across yet another Swordsoul or Virtual World deck, they always do the same linear boring ass combo. So maybe a year or so.” Yet when prodded further on the last event Suprex93 attended, the answer became more revealing: “It was right before Covid hit, so a couple years ago. I remember seeing the Adamancipator cards for the first time and freaking out – no way I’ll keep playing if this busted deck remains unhit. Don’t blame me, I just can’t stand broken combo decks. They should make decks like they used to in 2018. THAT was a time to play Yugioh.”
After not receiving the peer approval Suprex93 expected, they retreated back to their favorite hobbies – moderating Farfa streams and complaining about card censorship on X.
