Master Duel Banlist Changed From Forbidden to Limited

Konami Digital Card Games has just unveiled a new Forbidden/Limited list, effective from June 1st, 2025. The full list is as follows:

Upcoming Forbidden/Limited List Update

The “Master Duel” Forbidden/Limited list is now Limited (formerly Forbidden)

Thank you for playing “yu-gi-oh! Master Duel!”

The Master Duel Banlist was previously banned some time last year, after which the game entered a death spiral of increasingly difficult-to-beat decks, many of which incidentally contained “-Eyes” in their name. For the many that have already forgot banlists even existed, this Forbidden/Limited announcement comes as a welcome surprise. Like always, Konami Digital Card Games declined to provide an explanation, leading some to conclude the unbanning was to finally introduce some balance to the game, or perhaps to hit Purrely again.

Throughout this year, players who wanted a Master Duel Banlist were resorting to adding other, weaker alternatives, like the “4/28 Banlist” or “3/26 Banlist”. Some high-ranking players decided to give up on banlists entirely, claiming the replacements were “garnets” or “literally did nothing”.

We want to remind duelists that since the Master Duel Banlist will be Limited, they will now be allowed to have one real banlist per year.
